Magazines
It’s certainly true that in this day and age of freely available information that the sales of printed magazines aren’t quite what they were. In fact there has been a significant drop in sales; however, there plenty of magazines still being published and the ones that cover niche topics are in most cases still as popular as they ever were. If you visit your local newsagent then you’ll be able to find a great selection of magazines dealing with all sorts of different interests and topics. Many of these publications, particularly those that cater to a more specific market will often give away free gifts with certain copies. It’s these free gifts that are greatest appeal of magazines to many people.
The declining sales of printed magazines are clearly a direct result of the popularity of the internet as the great deal of the material published in their pages is freely available elsewhere. However, many people read online blogs and articles regular in the same way that they’re read a magazine. Some people may choose to view these as online magazines and there are some very clear parallels.
Despite the fact the overall sales figures for magazines are lower than they used to be the sales of certain magazines that cater to people with pretty specific interests are still strong. For example certain music magazines and publications that are written for people with a certain hobby are still very popular. |
